BATAM Resort Police (Polres) Anambas Islands, Riau Islands, revealed a case of narcotics findings packaged in Chinese tea packages. As of February 2025, the public had found a total of 4 packs of Chinese tea containing suspected methamphetamine.
Anambas Islands Police Chief, AKBP Raden Ricky Pratidiningrat, revealed that the latest findings occurred last Saturday, when a student found a suspicious package on the coast across from Liuk Village, Central Siantan District.
"This time it was a student on the beach," said Raden, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, February 4.
Raden appealed to the people of the Anambas Islands to immediately report to the authorities if they found similar packages, both in the waters and coast.
"I hope that all people of the Anambas Islands will find suspicious objects to immediately report directly to the Anambas Police," he said.
This case was handled by the Narcotics Unit of the Anambas Islands Police. From the results of the examination, the Chinese tea wrap found this time reads "Chinese Pin Wei", containing clear crystals that are strongly suspected of being methamphetamine.
The Head of Drugs at the Anambas Islands Police, AKP SM Simanjuntak, explained that the student was initially playing on the beach when the sea water receded.
"While walking along the beach, the witness saw a large green plastic wrap that read 'Chinese Pin Wei' on the beach," said Simanjuntak.
Out of curiosity, the student brought the object to the mainland. After suspecting its contents, he and his friend immediately reported the findings to the Liuk Village Head.
The report was then forwarded to the Head of the Palatak Police, Iptu Kristian, who immediately coordinated with the Narcotics Unit of the Anambas Islands Police to secure the goods.
"The total number of items found from January to February reached 4 packs, all of which have been secured at the Anambas Islands Police Narcotics Unit," explained Simanjuntak.

Packing narcotics in Chinese tea packs is nothing new. This mode is often used to smuggle methamphetamine into Indonesia through Sumatra waters, such as Aceh, Riau, and Riau Islands.
Based on data from Bareskrim Polri, narcotics with Chinese tea mode are related to the Golden Triangle international network, one of which is from Myanmar.
