Sufmi Dasco Says President Prabowo Has Instructioned The Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources To Reactivate 3 Kg Elpiji Retailers

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto instructed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia to reactivate retailers selling 3 kilograms (kg) of LPG gas as of today.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, after communicating with the President on Monday night regarding the change in the distribution pattern of gas subsidies of 3 kg or "gas melon".

"After communicating with the President, the President then instructed ESDM to as of today, reactivate existing retailers to sell as usual," Dasco told reporters before attending the Plenary Meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, February 4.

After that, he continued, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was asked to process the administration so that retailers would later be used as sub-baselines so that the price of LPG sold to the public was not too expensive.

"So the retailers who will become sub-basements will also be determined the price in the community so that the price in the community is not expensive," he said.

He then said, "But while it is partially done, the retailers will be asked by the President to instruct the ESDM so that per day the retailers can sell again, while then partially the rules are then harmonized."

Dasco also emphasized that the policy to prohibit retailers from selling 3 kg LPG gas was not from President Prabowo. For this reason, the President has instructed that gas sales run again as before, both in agents and retailers.

"Actually, this is not a policy from the President to then ban it yesterday, but looking at the situation and conditions, the President intervened to instruct retailers to run again," he said. He also emphasized that the stock of 3 kg LPG gas availability is not scarce in the market.

"The stock is not scarce, the stock is there. Confirmed stock is not rare," he said.
