Paulus Tannos Extradition Called Menkum Supratman Without Constraints: It's A Matter Of Time And There's A Procedure

JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas emphasized that Paulus Tannos' extradition from Singapore was not hampered. He said that the repatriation of fugitives in the corruption case for the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) did take time and there was a mechanism to go through.

"There is a procedural, the mechanism exists. Especially specifically with Singapore," Supratman told reporters at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday, February 1.

Supratman said that Paul's extradition process was the first to be carried out after the agreement between Indonesia and Singapore. So, all processes must be carried out.

Moreover, Paul is currently filing a lawsuit to test the validity of the arrest by the Singaporean authorities. Supratman said this process made Indonesia have to prepare various documents and will later provide information in court.

"So it's not a matter of whether there are obstacles or not. We are waiting for the next process so that both the Prosecutor's Office and the KPK will coordinate there," said the Gerindra Party politician.

"We have prepared the administration for the application (extradition, ed) at the Ministry of North Sumatra," continued Supratman.

Previously reported, Paulus Tannos, who is the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, was finally arrested by Singaporean authorities after being on the wanted list since 2021. He was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2019.

At that time he was named by the KPK as a suspect along with three other people, namely Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the former President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI); 2014-2019 DPR RI member Miryam S Haryani; and former Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of e-KTP Husni Fahmi.
