Vinicius Junior Wants To Stay At Real Madrid As Long As Possible Even Though Saudi Arabian Clubs Continue To Approach

JAKARTA - Vinicius Junior said he hoped to stay for many more years at Real Madrid despite speculation linking the forward to a move to Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian returned to the Real Madrid squad for the match on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Espanyol's headquarters after serving a two-match ban on playing in La Liga.

He has passed a milestone of 100 goals for the club earlier this month.

"It is very important for me to achieve 100 goals and be part of the club's history."

"At the age of 24, and after seven seasons, making history is something very important for me and my whole family. Hopefully I can continue to play here for years more," Vinicius told Real Madrid TV on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Vinicius scored his 100th and 101st goals for Real Madrid in a 5-1 club win in the Champions League over Salzburg on January 23, 2025.

The collection saw him approach Ronaldo Nazario--with 104 goals--as Brazilian with all-time high goals for Real Madrid.

"Only 23 players have scored 100 goals (for Real Madrid). Among them is one of my idols, Ronaldo Nazario, who always gives me a lot of advice on how to improve the ability in front of goal, how to kick better," Vinicius said.

"Cristiano (Ronaldo) too. They are the players I have seen and who have marked the era at this club. Hopefully I can follow in their footsteps."

"I have witnessed almost everything. He is an icon, who has been with me since I was a child. Being one of those who have reached the 100 (gol) benchmark is a great source of pride," said Vinicius.

Vinicius has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, helping them to top La Liga and reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.

He won FIFA Player of the Year 2024 and was runner-up in the 2024 men's Ballon d'Or.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Arabian Pro League is still interested in recruiting Vinicius and recalling the player's representative in December 2024, after first taking an approach on a possible deal last summer.
