JAKARTA - Sad news came from the entertainment world. Senior artist Emilia Contest passed away on Monday, January 25, 2025. This news was confirmed by Denada's assistant, Risna without explaining the exact cause and when the artist died.

"Confirmed. Yes, that's right," replied Denada's colleague when contacted by VOI, via text message.

Denada also has not provided an official statement regarding this sad news, but Denada's assistant has confirmed the news.

Emilia Contessa herself is still participating in the Legislative Election in 2024. She had volunteered as a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) in 2023, but chose to resign because she wanted to focus on the 2024 General Election.

Emilia Contessa was born under the name Nur Indah Citra Sukma Munsyi on September 27, 1957. This woman with Pakistani and Madura love to sing since childhood so that her mother always tries to make her child can take his hobby to various events.

In 1969, Emilia, who is familiarly called Emil, won the pop singer at PON VII Surabaya with the stage name Emilia Hasan. Then, Emil was invited by Lee Kuan Yew for music recordings in Singapore the following year.

One year later, Emil returned to Indonesia and appeared on an event on TVRI under the name Emilia Contest. With his loud and iconic voice, Emilia Contessa began to be looked at by the public.

Emil married three times. First, with Rio Tambunan and blessed with two children, namely Denada and Rico Tambunan. Their household ended up divorced until Emil married Abdullah Surkaty and was blessed with Muhammad Abdullah Surkata.

After divorcing Abdullah, Emil married a man of two children Arabic descent, Muhammad Al Present and gave birth to Emperor Hadi Haggy Al-Hadar.

Emilia continued her career by appearing in various places in Europe and America. The various songs she released became hits such as Let Alone, Flamboyan, Bunga Mawar, Bunga Anggrek, Curious, Layu Before Development, Permissibility, and others.

Like the hit artist at that time, Emil also explored the world of acting by starring in various films such as Mother's Tears Drops, Stepdaughter Review, and Twilight on Losari Beach.

Emil's last film was Memble But Kece in 1986 which he played Dra. Ayuningsih. Likewise with his last single is Samudera Shalawat which was released in 2000.

In 2010, Emilia Contessa ran for regent with Achmad Zainuri Ghazali, but lost the vote.

In 2014, Emil became a DPD from East Java during the 2014-2019 period. He got a vote of up to 1,660,542 votes and qualified for Senayan.

Emilia Contessa died at the age of 67.
