Kulon Progo Gapoktan Association Guarantees Safe Grain Stock Until Eid

KULON PROGO - The Association of Kulon Progo Regency Farmers Groups, Yogyakarta Special Region, guarantees that the stock of unhulled rice in this area is sufficient and safe until Lebaran 2025 because April begins to harvest again.

Chairman of the Association of Farmers Groups (Gapoktan) Kulon Progo Margiyono in Kulon Progo, Saturday, gave an example of the stock of unhulled rice in Gapoktan Panca Manunggal Sogan as much as 35 thousand tons of dry milling rice (GKG).

"In Kulon Progo there are dozens of Gapoktan, if the average Gapoktan has 20 tons of GKG, we are sure the rice and unhulled rice stocks are safe until Eid," said Margiyono.

He said that at the end of March and April 2025, almost all areas in Kulon Progo entered the harvest period so that they could increase the stock of unhulled rice again.

"By the end of March and April, the harvest period will be abundant," he said.

Regarding the 2025 Grain Government Purchase Price (HPP) of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram, said Margiyono, it is very burdensome for rice milling entrepreneurs because the government requires the purchase of GKP of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram with all quality.

The BPG in 2025 will be increased from IDR 6,000 per kilogram of harvested dry unhulled rice (GKP) in 2024 to IDR 500 per kilogram to IDR 6,500 per kilogram in 2025. Then the dry milling unhulled rice (GKG) from IDR 7,400 to IDR 8,200 per kilogram. Furthermore, the price of rice from IDR 11,000 per kilogram becomes IDR 12,000 per kilogram. The policy of increasing the HPP of unhulled rice has been in effect since January 15, 2025.

"In fact, in the field, this is something burdensome for rice milling entrepreneurs because the government requires the purchase of GKP of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram with all the quality," he said.

Therefore, as a small, medium and large milling business actor in Kulon Progo, he could not do this.

This is considering that GKP does not reach more than 50. The GKP rendement is an average good standard of 50. Thus, the GKP 50 rendemen, then rice is sold to the government in the amount of Rp. 12 thousand.

The Gapoktan Association bought a GKP of IDR 6,000 per kilogram, not IDR 6,500 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the GKP calculation of IDR 6,500 was not found. So there is a burden borne by milling entrepreneurs.

"By looking at such conditions, we hope to help the government, is it permissible not to be able to run it. We buy unhulled rice according to market capacity, but indeed the government insists on realizing food self-sufficiency," he said.
