Motives For Persecution Of 10-Year-Old Boy In South Nias Revealed, Aunt Becomes A Suspect

NIAS The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the South Nias Police, North Sumatra, revealed the motive behind the persecution case that happened to a 10-year-old girl with the initials NN. His aunt herself, a woman with the initials DE, is suspected of being the main perpetrator in this incident.

Based on the results of the investigation, DE admitted to molesting NN because he was annoyed after the victim did not return home for three days.

"This persecution occurred due to the suspect's frustration with the victim who did not return home for several days. This made DE commit acts of violence that caused bruises on the victim's thigh," said South Nias Police Chief, Kombes Pol Ferry Mulyana Suryana, Monday, February 3.

The results of the post-mortem confirm the allegation that the victim experienced physical violence. However, from a radiological examination at the Thomsen Gunung Sitoli Hospital, NN's leg, which was deformed since birth, did not suffer a fracture due to abuse, but was a congenital disorder.

"From the results of the radiological examination, no fracture was found due to violence. The victim's physical disorder is confirmed to be built-in since birth," explained Kombes Pol Ferry.

Currently, DE has been secured at the South Nias Police Headquarters and charged with the Child Protection Act, with a penalty of more than five years in prison. Police are also still investigating the possible involvement of other family members in this case.

Previously, this case went viral on social media after a video circulated showing NN's condition with the suspicion of a fracture due to violence.

The boy from Hilikara Village, Lolowau District, South Nias Regency has lived with his grandparents for a long time after his parents migrated off the island after the divorce.

The police together with village officials and the TNI from the local Koramil immediately evacuated NN to the Lolowau Health Center for medical treatment after receiving reports from the public regarding the alleged abuse.
