Nunukan DPRD Members Disappointed, Ask KSOP-BPTD And Nunukan Transportation Agency To Find Solutions To The Director General Of Hubdar

A number of members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Nunukan Regency admitted that they were disappointed with the performance of the Nunukan Regency Transportation Service (Dishub), Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) Nunukan and the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) of the Ministry of Transportation Representative of North Kalimantan (Kaltara).

The reason is, the three agencies cannot provide answers or solutions after the speedboat of Cinta Putri sea accident which claimed lives in Tinabasan waters on January 29, 2025.

Anggota DPRD Nunukan, Andre Pratama menyebut ketiga instansi ini menyerangkan kewenangan sesuai regulasi masing-masing institusi Perhubungan tersebut.

"I ask these three agencies together with the Nunukan DPRD to visit the Director General of Land Transportation (Hubdar) in Jakarta to discuss this authority so that there is a solution," said Andre, Monday, February 3.

"If necessary, we give three months, to be able to place additional personnel here. If you can't carry out your authority, let the local government take over or be given that authority," said Andre.

The same thing was expressed by the Chairman of Commission II, Andri Fajrul Syam, who admitted that he was disappointed with the unclear authority to resolve the issue.

"Everyone threw their authority at each other, so we encourage the decentralization of central policies to be transferred to the regions," said Fajrul.

Fajrul also asked these three relevant agencies to be able to carry out supervision, especially regarding the use of life jackets.

"Before there is a regulation from the center, I ask that now KSOP, BPTD, and Dishub must ensure the safety of the passengers. Do not let this incident happen again," he said.

"Relevant agencies must also go to the field to socialize to the public regarding the importance of using life jackets. In fact, if there are passengers or motorists who do not heed so that they are not given permission to leave," he continued.

The chairman of the Nunukan DPRD, Hj Rahma Lappa also highlighted the case that claimed lives and asked these three agencies to be responsible, especially for the feasibility of speedboats and security for passengers.

"Speed, there is no buoy and sailing permit, why is this allowed. Why is there no agency that reprimands and supervises before this speedboat goes," he said.

He also regretted that the incident occurred, and highlighted the relevant agencies that seemed to have let go after the case. So he questioned which agency has the authority to go on shipping safety.
