JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his readiness to make peace with Russia. He admitted that he wanted peace negotiations to be realized immediately.
"After negotiations with US President Donald Trump, we have to switch to some kind of format for negotiations with Russia," Zelensky said in an interview session with AP, Sunday, February 2, quoted from Tass.
Zelensky also hopes that the United States (US) and the European Union (EU) will be involved in these peace negotiations.
"I want to see the United States, Ukraine, and Russia at the negotiating table ... And, to be honest, the EU vote must also be there. I think it will be fair and effective. But how did it come? I don't know," he continued.
Regarding efforts to reconcile with Russia, Zelensky admitted that he continued to consult with President Donald Trump's election.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Zelensky was not Ukraine's legitimate leader.
Putin said Zelensky could not remove his own veto rights in negotiations with Russia, asking if it happened simply because of his desire.
