Taufik Hidayat Disappointed Indonesia Still Has Zero Badminton Titles

Taufik Hidayat is disappointed that none of Indonesia's badminton players will receive titles in three tournaments earlier this year (doc. Kemenpora).

JAKARTA - Deputy General Chair I (Waketum I) of PBSI, Taufik Hidayat, is disappointed that Indonesia still has zero titles from three major tournaments in the BWF World Tour 2025 calendar earlier this year.

The three tournaments in question are the Malaysia Open, India Open, and Indonesia Masters 2025. The best journey of Indonesian representatives in the three tournaments is to become runners-up.

Taufik admits that there are many things that must be addressed from the results in the three events. Moreover, there are many changes made by the new management for the 2024-2028 term of service.

"What is past, if we can be said to be disappointed. Who is not disappointed with the results of these three matches," said Taufik at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

The two runners-up results achieved by Indonesia from the three events all occurred in Indonesia. The two representatives who got these achievements were Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Jonatan Christie.

The results at the Indonesia Masters 2025 are much worse than last year. In the 2024 edition, Indonesia received one title through the men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin.

Meanwhile, in Malaysia and the 2025 India Open, the journey of representatives of Indonesia only reached the quarter-finals and semifinals. Last year in the two events, Indonesia also did not get the title.

"We still need the process. We will try our best from the coach, coaching team and their supporters, as well as that we provide, prepare what athletes want everyone," said Taufik.

Meanwhile, as many as 24 Indonesian representatives are currently competing in Thailand Masters 2025. At the Super 300 event, Indonesia decided not to field top players.
