Neymar Leaks Rails At PSG: Mbappe Jealous Of Messi

Neymar leaked the confusion of the past when Paris Saint-Germain was filled with many stars (Instagram/@neymarjr).

JAKARTA - Brazilian striker Neymar said his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe became a little jealous after Lionel Messi's star joined in August 2021 on a free transfer.

Speaking on a podcast hosted by World Cup winner, Romanio, released Thursday, January 16, 2025, local time, Neymar added that a large ego affected PSG's performance in the big game.

Neymar commented after Romario asked if Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid this season, was annoying.

"No, he's not. I brought my things with him. We had a fight, but he was very important to us when he came. I used to call him a golden boy."

"I've always played with him. He said he would be one of the best. I've always helped, talked to him, he came to my place, we had dinner together."

"We have had good cooperation for several years. However, after Messi came, he was a bit jealous."

"He didn't want to separate me from anyone. Then, there were some fights and behavior changes," said Neymar.

Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, the same year Neymar moved from Barcelona to the French club in one of the biggest transfers in football history.

Both were contracted as the club attempted to win their first Champions League title, which has not been won until now.

Neymar said his team often had trouble with big egos, but did not mention anyone's name.

"Having an ego is good, but you have to know that you don't play alone. There has to be someone else in your body."

"The big (big) ego is everywhere, it won't work. If no one runs and no one helps, it's impossible to win," said the Al Hilal player.

Neymar did not rule out returning to Brazil after his contract in Saudi Arabia expired in the middle of this year.

In addition, there are also reports that the 32-year-old is negotiating with three MLS (Major League Soccer) teams, including the Chicago Fire FC.

However, Neymar has said long ago that he will move to MLS for Inter Miami to reunite with Messi and Luis Suarez, his Barcelona partner.
