Free School Program In Jakarta Must Be Quality And According To National Education Standards

JAKARTA - Member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Yusuf stated that the free school program in Jakarta must be of high quality and not reduce the quality standards of national education so that people can feel the benefits without spending money.

"The most important thing is that when the free school program is realized, teachers provide optimal teaching to students," Yusuf said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 12.

According to him, at the time of teaching lessons given to students, it did not reduce the operating standards of existing procedures (SOPs).

Yusuf said that the existence of a free bini school program is needed to improve the quality of education so that it can produce superior, productive and prosperous human resources (HR).

"Don't let the teaching volume be reduced and the school must remain of high quality," he said.

Commission E of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD for the 2019-2024 period together with the Education Office have signed a free school agreement (MoU) which is not only for public schools but also for the private sector starting in 2025.

Moreover, the DPRD and the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta have agreed to include the program in the 2025 APBD of IDR 2.3 trillion.

Yusuf hopes that the program can eliminate the concerns of parents regarding the zoning system in the New Student Admissions (PPDB).

He also hopes that free schools will be held in June 2025. This will cut off social inequality.

The free school program can be finalized through the revision of Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2006 concerning the Implementation and Management of Education. "Hopefully, children in Jakarta do not drop out of school and get an even education," said Yusuf.

Previously, the chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Khoirudin, said that the legal regulation or umbrella in the form of a draft regional regulation (Raperda) to regulate the free school program is targeted for completion by the end of January 2025.

"We can complete the regional regulation regarding education at the end of January," said Khoirudin on Tuesday, January 7.

He said the discussion of the regional regulation continued to be accelerated because the free school program in Jakarta would be implemented in the new school year 2025. Thus, the rules governing rights, obligations and sanctions must be available before the new school year.

Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2006 concerning the Implementation and Management of Education needs to be revised so that the implementation of the free school program runs optimally.

"Kalau tidak didukung perda, khawatir teknisnya tidak maksimal dan pelaksanaan di lapangan melanggari aturan," kata dia.
