JAKARTA - Mazda's single brand holder (ATPM) in Indonesia, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) officially launched the All-New Mazda CX-80 which is its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicle to be marketed in the country.

EMI said that the car would be placed as a flagship in Mazda cars in Indonesia or above the CX-60. Different from other models, the company only provides PHEV versions for CX-80 to be marketed in this country.

PT EMI's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ricky Thio, reasoned that his party only presented the PHEV version to Indonesia in order to provide a different offer so that customers could feel the sensation of PHEV technology.

"This CX-80 is our first plug-in hybrid car and maybe our first serious hybrid because the CX-60 is a mild-hybrid with a 48V battery. So, we bring it to Indonesia so that people can feel how PHEV cars work," Ricky said during a question and answer session in Simprug, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

In an external market like England, Mazda CX-80 comes with engine options such as 3.3 liters 6-cylinder segaris diesel which has 254 ps of power assisted by driving all wheels (AWD).

Ricky said EMI did not present the machine option because it could be obtained on the CX-60 so it was claimed to have a sense of driving that was not much different.

"For 3.3 liters, there is already a CX-60 and there is also a 2.5 liter version of the AWD, but we want to give it a refresher and it's on the CX-80," added Ricky.

Mazda CX-80 which is sold in Indonesia is equipped with a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine measuring 327 ps and a 500 Nm torque in collaboration with a 17.8 kWh battery so that it can provide a distance of up to 60 km in pure electric driving.

In Indonesia, EMI officially sells All-New Mazda CX-80 at a price of Rp1.199 billion On The Road DKI Jakarta.
