Minister Of Transportation Dudy Committed To Realizing Transportation That Prioritizes Safety

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi stated that his party is committed to continuing to evaluate all modes of transportation so as to realize safe, comfortable, and secure transportation.

"We are also observing various aspects that still require improvement to improve the quality of transportation services for the community," he said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 11.

He said this was in response to the results of a survey by the Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies (Pustral) of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) which measured public satisfaction with transportation operations during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays which were released on Friday (10/1).

The Ministry of Transportation appreciates the survey results and is an important evaluation material to continue to improve transportation services.

"We really appreciate the results of this survey as an evaluation material in improving transportation services in the future. The high achievement of satisfaction shows that the policies and programs that have been implemented during Christmas and the new year are going well," he said.

He expressed his appreciation for the good cooperation between the government, transportation service providers, and academics in the success of year-end holiday transportation.

The Ministry of Transportation assessed that the survey reflects public perceptions of various policies that have been implemented in order to ensure smooth, security, and convenience of public travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The number of respondents from the survey was 5,804 people spread across seven provinces and various major transportation nodes. The survey results show that 86 percent of respondents said they were satisfied and very satisfied with transportation services during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods. The transportation user satisfaction index reached 4.39 on a scale of 5 or 88.28 percent which was categorized as very satisfied

Despite the high level of community satisfaction, he stated that he was still watching several issues that were of concern in this survey.

He is committed to evaluating and improving these aspects in order to ensure a better travel experience for the community in the future.

In addition, the survey results revealed that the safety aspect of public transportation facilities got the highest score of 4.6 out of 5 or 92.31 percent. In terms of transportation modes, trains get the highest satisfaction index of 4.6 or 92.59 percent.

In addition to assessing the quality of transportation services, this survey also measures public views on government policies during Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025.

The results showed that 89.7 percent of respondents supported government policies, such as free homecoming programs and aircraft ticket price reduction policies.

This support is an encouragement of the Ministry of Transportation to continue to improve and develop policies that favor the community.

The Ministry of Transportation together with various stakeholders have implemented a number of strategic policies to accommodate the surge in community mobility during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 transportation periods.

The policy includes the Free Homecoming program for sea transportation and motor transportation; a 10 percent reduction in domestic flight ticket prices; traffic management on toll roads and non-toll roads through one way schemes, contra flow, rest area management, and restrictions on operational freight transport.

In addition, optimizing public transportation services includes service innovations in train modes that receive high appreciation from users.

His party will continue to innovate and coordinate with various parties to improve the quality of transportation services, not only during the Christmas and New Year periods but also at other homecoming moments, including the 2025 Eid transportation.

"Evaluation of the results of service surveys that still need to be improved will be a priority for future improvements," he said.

Minister of Transportation Dudy also expressed his gratitude to all people who have succeeded in transporting Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 as well as to stakeholders who have worked together in organizing transportation services that are safe and comfortable.
