JAKARTA - A British sailors disappeared at sea after his cruise ship was found shipwrecked off France's southwest coast amid a major storm over the weekend.
French Maritime authorities said the 73-year-old's search for the man occurred when Hurricane Herminia hit western France.
As reported by Reuters, France's national weather agency on Monday, January 27, puts the Ile-et-Vilaine department, in western France, on red alert due to the risk of flooding.
The danger signal from the cruise ship was detected about 80 km (50 miles) west of Lacanau on Saturday afternoon, and a helicopter delivered to the scene found the sailing boat, prefet Maritime de l'Atlantique said in a statement on Sunday evening.
