Former Investigator Of Paulus Tannos Value Can Be Charged With Investigation Opportunities Due To Changing Citizenship

JAKARTA - The suspect in the corruption case of the electronic identity card procurement project (e-KTP), Paulus Tannos, is considered to be able to be charged with the article on the obstruction of investigation or Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law. He is considered to have interfered with the investigation because he fled and changed his nationality.

It is known that Paulus Tannos, President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, who has been on the run since 2021, was finally arrested by Singapore's security authorities. He then served a temporary detention for 45 days according to the rules of the extradition agreement.

"Efforts to change the status of a citizen by Paulus Tannos can be categorized as a separate criminal act, namely Article 21 an attempt to obstruct the investigation," said former KPK investigator, Praswad Nugraha in a written statement, Monday, January 27.

"The action of Tannos who tried to run away and was fugitive and changed his citizenship status after committing a criminal act in Indonesia was a layered crime, apart from the main crime, namely the e-KTP corruption that had been committed by him," he continued.

Praswad also believes that Paulus Tannos can still be punished according to the rules in the country even though he has changed his citizenship. This is because he committed a criminal act when he was still an Indonesian citizen (WNI).

"So the principle of active nationality applies. It doesn't matter what the status of its citizens is now," he said.

Previously reported, Paulus Tannos, who is the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, was finally arrested by Singaporean authorities after being on the wanted list since 2021. He was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2019.

At that time he was named by the KPK as a suspect along with three other people, namely Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the former President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI); 2014-2019 DPR RI member Miryam S Haryani; and former Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of e-KTP Husni Fahmi.
