Liverpool Set A Record Never Losing, Arne Slot: Bournemouth Is The Toughest Opponent

JAKARTA - Liverpool set a 19-time record of never losing in a row in Premier League England when they beat Bournemouth 2-0. Manager Arne Slot recognizes Bournemouth as the most difficult opponent to beat.

Slot again fielded the first team after appearing with second-tier players in the match against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. As a result, it is predictable. Liverpool lost 3-2 in an unspecified match because the Reds appeared as leaders and qualified for the last 16 automatically.

After ending the preliminary round with defeat, Liverpool returned to compete in domestic competitions. This time, Liverpool appeared with the best strength in the duel at Bournemouth's home at Vitality Stadium, Saturday, February 1, 2025 evening WIB.

Liverpool were forced to work hard against Bournemouth who had never lost 11 games in the Premier League. Not only that, The Cherries are observed by giant killers for beating Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United to Manchester City.

In the last match, they even finished off Nottingham Forest 5-0. Forest is also a surprise team. Last season Forest almost degraded and closed the competition by ranking 17 or one strip above the red zone.

However, this season, Forest has appeared different and has succeeded in penetrating the Champions League zone. Now, they are ranked third so that Bournemouth's success in slaughtering Forest is certainly a separate note against Liverpool.

Liverpool's 2-0 victory also succeeded in breaking Bournemouth's brilliant record. On the other hand, The Pool confirmed a 19-match unbeaten record in the league. However, Slot admits that Bournemouth is an opponent that is not easy to beat.

"This is indeed going to be a fierce battle. I know that. After we beat them 3-0 in the home game, they welcomed us with a team with strong mentality and quality," said Slot.

"They often win against good teams and I don't think it's luck. They are a strong team and have quality. It's not easy against them," he said again.

"I think there are only a few fighters who are really tough like them. If you want to get a chance [scoring goals], you have to keep up with it by running and fighting and trying to win a duel. That's what our players do," said Slot.

The victory over Bournemouth confirmed Liverpool's position at the top of the standings. Now, they are pocketing 56 points. Nine points ahead with Arsenal and Forest who are in second and third place.

After competing in the Premier League, Liverpool immediately focused on facing Tottenham in the second semifinal of the Carabao Cup. In the first match at Tottenham, Liverpool, who are the defending champions, lost 1-0.
