JAKARTA - One of the leading automotive manufacturers from Japan, Honda has launched a world premiere '0 Series' prototype version at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) some time ago.

The two models are 0 Saloon and 0 SUVs that were previously featured in the form of concepts at last year's edition of the CES event. Both will be Honda's future vehicle and introduced globally in 2026.

Not only that, another latest news is that the manufacturer intends to sell a small EV with a tag of less than US$30,000 (Rp487.3 million) and will be sold in North America.

The Nikkei Asia reported on Thursday, January 30, that Honda also intends to produce this model locally in North America in order to comply with regulations and not be subject to import duties that are likely to be increased under the leadership of the latest US president, Donald Trump.

Because it is produced locally, the model has the potential to meet the requirements to obtain a federal tax credit which at the same time lowers its price tag to close to US$20,000 (Rp324.9 million). However, certainty regarding the incentives for electric vehicles also still has not found a bright spot under the new government.

One of Honda's spokesmen did not want to comment on the small electric car and said it had only confirmed two 0 Series models, namely 0 SUVs and 0 Saloon, which would arrive at the North American market.

"Currently, only two models have been confirmed for North America, namely 0 SUVs and 0 Saloon, both of which are previewed at CES. We will not speculate on this model," said American Honda Senior Manager of Public Relations Andrew Quiling.

Some time ago, the manufacturer with the 'H' logo was upright in order to make a breakthrough to sell electric vehicles under US$30,000. However, Global Executive Vice President Honda, Shinji Aoyama said that his party wanted to present EVs in the US market at that price in 2030.
