Terungkap, Anthony Ginting Paksa Tampil Di Malaysia Open 2025 Meski Tengah Injury

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting turned out to have suffered an injury while appearing at the Malaysia Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was already injured, but decided to play at the Malaysia Open 2025 earlier this month.

This was conveyed by the Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum I) of PBSI, Taufik Hidayat, when met at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

"Ginting actually had an injury, but didn't want to be honest from the start that he was injured," said Taufik after being with Menpora Dito Ariotedjo received President Prabowo Subianto's special envoy.

Ginting was included in the nine representatives who played in the Super 1000 BWF level event. In the men's singles event, the owner of the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics took part with Jonatan Christie.

While playing at the Axiata Arena, Ginting, who was not good enough, had to pack a suitcase in the second half. He returned from the tournament after losing against Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand.

Taufik said that Ginting should be open with injuries to his hands so there is no need to play in the event to avoid worse risks.

"If it is sick, yes, there should be no need to compete. It means to be honest. If you really have to pay a fine, yes, pay. If you really have to be a letter from a doctor, there must be no problem," said Taufik.

The injury problem forced Ginting to miss two tournaments after that, India Open and Indonesia Masters 2025. In the three tournaments, Indonesia had to go home without bringing a single title.

Indonesia's best journey in these three events is two runners-up. Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Jonatan Christie achieved this achievement at the 2025 Indonesia Masters.
