Lawyers For The Arrest Of Radja Nainggolan Regarding Cocaine Smuggling: He's Not A Suspect

JAKARTA Lawyer Radja Nainggolan, Omar Souidi opened his voice about the arrest of his client related to the alleged smuggling of cocaine in Europe. According to the lawyer, Radja has undergone examination with the right procedures and has no indication of his status as a suspect.

He is a football player, not a criminal. He himself is against drugs. This (arrest) is very regrettable about his reputation because he is now associated with an international drug trafficking syndicate," said Omar Souidi as quoted by Belgian media, Gazet van Economy on Tuesday, January 28.

"The presumption of innocence for Nainggolan. He has been interrogated and there is no evidence as a suspect," Souidi added.

After the news of his arrest by the Belgian police was made on Monday, January 27, Radja Nainggolan is currently still undergoing legal proceedings. According to the lawyer, his client also received good treatment while dealing with law enforcers.

"My client has been interrogated, as you can see. The police question was conveyed in the right way. He (Nainggolan) wanted to work together to answer that question," he said.

Even though he was declared to have received good treatment, Nainggolan still had to stay at the police station to undergo further examination. The plan is that the follow-up legal process will continue.

"The investigation will take place on Tuesday. So my client has to wait until he is allowed to be released," said Souidi.

The news of Radja Nainggolan's arrest has shocked the world of football, because the former Bhayangkara FC player was caught in a case that was suspected of smuggling cocaine from South America to Europe via the Harbor port route, Belgium.
