Today The Constitutional Court Holds A Dismissal Decision Session Of 158 Cases Of The 2024 Regional Head Election Dispute

JAKARTA The Constitutional Court (MK) held a trial for the pronunciation of interim decisions (dismissal) for 158 cases of dispute over general election results (PHPU) for governors, regents, and mayors or regional election disputes in 2024 on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

This trial began at 08.00 WIB and was chaired directly by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo, in the Court Building I Session Room, Jakarta.

"The trial for the pronunciation of the provisions and decisions in the PHPU cases for governors, regents, and mayors is opened and declared open to the public," Suhartoyo said.

The Constitutional Court previously registered a total of 310 cases of regional election disputes in 2024, consisting of: - 23 cases of governor election disputes, - 238 cases of regent election disputes, and - 49 cases of mayor election disputes.

Of these, as many as 152 other cases will be decided in a dissal trial on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Prior to the dismissal decision, the Constitutional Court had held a preliminary examination hearing and trial examination for all 310 cases on January 8, 2025 by panel method.

At this stage, the three panel of judges listened to the main petition from the applicant, the response from the KPU as the respondent, as well as information from Bawaslu and related parties.

The dissal decision will determine whether a case proceeds to the evidentiary stage scheduled for February 7, 2025. If the case is further stated, each party can present witnesses and / or experts with a maximum limit of 6 people for governor and axial disputes of 4 people for regent / mayor disputes.

In accordance with Article 56 of the Constitutional Court Regulation (PMK) Number 3 of 2024, regional election disputes must be decided within a maximum of **45 working days since the application is registered.

Based on PMK Number 1 of 2025, the Constitutional Court is scheduled to decide on the case that continues to the evidentiary stage on February 24, 2025, ahead of the initial schedule of March 11, 2025.
