Arrested By Police, The Curanmor Syndicate In Balikpapan Has Acted 24 Times In Several Areas

BALIKPAPAN - Police have arrested a syndicate of motor vehicle theft perpetrators (curanmor) who have acted about 24 times in the Balikpapan City area, East Kalimantan Province.

"We have succeeded in arresting the perpetrators of theft, namely KH, SN, MY and T who have been in action since 2022," explained Head of Sub-Directorate for Jatanras Polda Kaltim Kompol Agta Bhuwana Putra in Balikpapan City, Antara, Thursday, January 23.

The perpetrators KH and SN assisted by T are pickers, and MY as collectors. From the results of the examination, since 2022, the perpetrators have acted in a number of locations around 24 times.

The police confiscated evidence of 18 units of two-wheeled motorized vehicles, and a number of motorcycle parts.

"Stolen motorbikes are sold through online or online (online) markets at prices ranging from Rp. 5 million per unit. We are investigating the pattern of theft from the arrest of KH, SN, MY and T, for the identification of the syndicate network of the perpetrators of the theft," said Agta Bhuwana Putra.

Jatanras Direktorat Reserse Kriminal Umum (Dit Reskrimum) Polda Kaltim masih terus mengembangkan kasus tersebut, dan tidak menutup kemungkinan tersangka bertambah.

The public is reminded to be careful when buying used vehicles or spare parts, especially those sold through the marketplace. The police also continue to monitor motor vehicle sales activities in the marketplace to maintain public safety and comfort.

KH, SN, MY and T have now been named suspects. KH, SN and T were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding theft by weight, while MY was subject to Article 480 of the Criminal Code as a collector.
