The Ministry Of Public Works Ensures That The Kanjuruhan Stadium Is In Accordance With FIFA Standards

The Ministry of Public Works ensures that all facilities at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java have met the standards of the parent world football organization, FIFA.

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo in Malang, Saturday, said that the entire condition of the Kanjuruhan Stadium, had been directly reviewed by FIFA and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) when the renovation process was still ongoing.

"It has been checked by FIFA and of course if FIFA has done so, then PSSI has also done it. The existing standards are in accordance with the provisions of FIFA," said Dody.

He is optimistic that with the fulfillment of FIFA standardization, in the future the Kanjuruhan Stadium will be able to add options as a place to hold international level football matches.

"God willing, it can be used as a place to hold international matches," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) Airyn Saputri Harahap said the renovation of the Kanjuruhan Stadium was considering the provisions of FIFA, one of which concerns the safety aspect for the audience.

Furthermore, said Airyn, the process of evacuating spectators in the event of an emergency incident in the stadium has been calculated by his party. Then a simulation was carried out and implemented in stages of renovating the building.

"The evacuation line already exists, it can be seen as in the photo in front. Even the standard evacuation from us to get out of the stadium is seven minutes," he said.

Not only that, the Kanjuruhan Stadium also provides special seats for people with disabilities with a capacity of 16 people.

He added that in fact the Kanjuruhan Tragedy that occurred, on October 1, 2022, was an important lesson for many parties, in order to always prioritize the security side of the community.

"All the rules we follow, come back again that what we are protecting is human life," he said.

In addition, Airyn stated that renovations at the Kanjuruhan Stadium did not eliminate historical content regarding the tragedy, on October 1, 2022, which resulted in 135 deaths.

"We discussed with the victim's family about what the design here looks like, the renovation here cannot be done carelessly because there is a history," he said.
