KemenPANRB Professionalism Doubtful After Tweets About Gibran's Wife's Birthday

JAKARTA The professionalism of the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB) is doubtful after wishing the Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's wife, Selvi Ananda, a tweet on the official X account.

"Happy Birthday, Mrs. Selvi Gibran Rakabuming! May you always be given diversity and health in accompanying Mr. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka," tweeted the X account of KemenPANRB, Thursday, January 9, 2025.

The tweet was questioned by a senior politician, Akbar Faizal, who considered it to have no relevance to the duties and main responsibilities of the Ministry of PANRB, namely improving government governance and bureaucratic reform.

"To the Minister of Administrative Reform & Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), thank you for reminding this person over and over again. But what is the relevance of your duties and responsibilities to take care of this kind of thing? The burden on this nation is really heavy. @gibran_tweet @prabowo, "wrote Akbar in his confirmed personal X account Sunday, January 12, 2025.

He considered that the KemenPANRB's move was a form of deviation from the proper priority. This is because KemenPANRB has a big responsibility to solve various bureaucratic problems, so actions such as giving birthday wishes to families of state officials do not have relevance with its institutional mandate.

In addition, the tweet showed public concern that there are still many state institutions that are not professional in carrying out their duties. Akbar emphasized that the burden on the Indonesian nation is too heavy to be diverted to non-substantial ceremonial activities.

"What the PANRB Ministry is doing also creates a negative perception of how the ministry uses resources and time for non-essential things," he said.
