Russia Brings Bomb Attack That Killed General Kirillov To UN Security Council Meetings The Day After Tomorrow

JAKARTA - Russia has confirmed that it will bring the issue of a bomb attack that killed its senior general to a meeting of the UN Security Council which is planned to be held the day after tomorrow, assessing it as a terrorist attack.

Russia's Head of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Forces Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his aide died in an explosion in the capital Moscow Tuesday, with Ukraine claiming responsibility.

Russia's Foreign Ministry sees the attack as a consequence of Western conspiracy to the Kyiv crime

Spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova described the murder of Lieutenant General Kirillov and his aide as a planned terrorist attack made possible by Western conspiracy to the crimes of the Kiev regime.

"Another terrorist attack has occurred. General Igor Kirillov and his aide were killed in a planned manner, murdered in front of an apartment building as people go to work, children go to school or kindergarten," he wrote on Telegram, launching TASS December 18.

According to the diplomat, the attack was "a continuation and development of the Western conspiracy spiral over the militant war crimes of the Kiev regime, which they have exacerbated for years."

Meanwhile, Russia's First Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said his country would raise the issue of the terror attack at a UN Security Council meeting that had been requested on December 20.

"We will certainly raise the issue of a terrorist attack on Igor Kirillov at the UN Security Council meeting on December 20 which will be dedicated to the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine and its impact on the prospect of a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine crisis. Those responsible for this crime must be properly punished and condemned firmly by the international community," he wrote on his Telegram channel account.

The explosion due to an explosive device planted on a scooter near the entrance to the apartment on Ryazansky Avenue, Moscow on Tuesday killed Lt. Gen. Kirilliv and his aides.

The Russian Investigative Committee opened criminal cases on charges of illegal murder, terrorism and possession of weapons and ammunition (paralles 105, 205, and 222 of the Russian Criminal Code). Investigations are underway.

The assassination of Igor Kirillov and his assistants has been classified as "terrorist acts," Russian investigative committee spokesman Svetlana Petrenko said the attack had been classified as a terrorist murder and act.

He said investigations were also carried out regarding the "illegal arms and ammunition trade" linked to the killings.

According to investigations so far, he said, an explosive device was planted on a scooter parked at the scene of the crime, which exploded and killed the two victims.

"Investigative task forces are working at the crime scene, establishing the state of crime and the circle of people involved in their actions," said Petrenko.

Separately, Ukrainian intelligence services source SBU confirmed to Reuters that Ukrainian intelligence agencies were behind the attack.

"The assassination of the head of the Russian Federation's radiation and chemical protection forces is the work of SBU," the source said.

The source said a scooter filled with explosives exploded, killing Kirillov and his aide as they exited a building in Ryazansky Prospect in Moscow.
