Mayor of Depok Mohammad Idris stated that the increase in the Depok City Minimum Wage (UMK) in 2024 was 15 percent waiting for consideration from the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo).
"I have also conveyed my aspirations that the Depok 2024 UMK will increase by 15 percent to the Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin," said Mohammad Idris in Depok, Antara, Thursday, November 23.
Idris said the Acting Governor would see his consideration from Apindo to see how good this UMK increase would be.
"Until now, Apindo's opinion at the request of workers regarding the Depok 2024 UMK has increased by 15 percent has not been received. There has been no letter to me either, what kind of proposal," he explained.
Idris does not yet know when the Depok 2024 UMK will be announced. He assessed that if it accommodated the 15 percent increase, the Depok UMK would be higher than the DKI Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) and Bekasi UMK.
He said that the company will live, if the company is able, go ahead if it is not able to find a solution, what kind of solution will it be.
"If it is forced to feel sorry for the impact, there could be layoffs, later it will not only be Depok residents, but Jabodetabek residents who work in companies," he said.
The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) has set the Depok 2023 UMK at IDR 4,694,493. The determination of the UMK is contained in the Decree of the Governor of West Java Number: 561.7/Kep,776-Kesra/2022 concerning the Regency/City Minimum Wage in the West Java Province (Jabar) Region in 2023.
