Issues New Instructions, Prabowo Asks For Official Travel Budget To Be Cut 50 Percent

President Prabowo Subianto asked governors, regents and mayors to cut the official travel budget (Perdin) by 50 percent.

The policy is contained in the presidential instruction (Inpres) number 1 of 2025 concerning the Efficiency of Expenditures in the Implementation of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) for the 2025 fiscal year.

The rule took effect immediately when it was issued on January 22, 2025.

The directives for efficiency are contained in the fourth instruction points, namely the Governor, Regent and Mayor to limit spending on ceremonial activities, studies, comparative studies, printing, publications, and seminars/focus groups discussions.

"Reducing official travel expenditures by 50 percent," he wrote in Presidential Instruction issued by President Prabowo on January 22, 2025, quoted Wednesday, January 23.

In addition, the fourth dictum of the Presidential Instruction also limited honorarium spending through limiting the number of teams and the amount of honorarium which refers to the Presidential Regulation regarding Regional Unit Price Standards.

Then to reduce expenditures that are supporting in nature and do not have measurable output.

As well as focusing the budget allocation on the target of public service performance and not based on equitable distribution between regional apparatus or based on the budget allocation in the previous fiscal year.

Furthermore, it was also instructed to be more selective in providing direct grants in the form of money, goods, or services to Ministries/Agencies. And adjust the APBD expenditure for Fiscal Year 2025 which is sourced from Transfer to Regions.

To note, in the presidential instruction (Inpres) number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the State Budget and Regional Budget for the 2025 fiscal year amounting to IDR 306.69 trillion.

"The efficiency in the state budget for the 2025 Fiscal Year is IDR 306,695,177,420,000," he wrote in President Prabowo's Instruction issued on January 22, 2025, quoted Wednesday, January 23.

The regulation explains the total details of the budget cut by IDR 306.69 trillion from the total 2025 state expenditure of IDR 3,621.3 trillion. The efficiency consists of a K/L expenditure budget of IDR 256.10 trillion, and a TKD of IDR 50.59 trillion.
