The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Reports Smooth And Safe Fuel Distribution During The Christmas Period

JAKARTA - The distribution of fuel oil (BBM) is in a safe condition during the Christmas 2024 period. This was revealed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

Deputy Minister (Wamen) of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot directly inspected the readiness of fuel distribution at one of the Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) in Pekanbaru to ensure smooth energy supply in Sumatra, including Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, and West Sumatra.

"We from the ESDM National Task Force (Satgas) checked the distribution of fuel in the Riau Islands, Riau Province, North Sumatra, Aceh and West Sumatra. During last Christmas, the fuel supply was very smooth and there were no problems," said Yuliot, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, December 28.

Based on a report from the national post team in the ESDM sector, continued the Deputy Minister, the current national fuel stock resilience reaches 18-20 days for all types of fuel, including gasoline, gasoil, kerosene, and avtur.

Especially in Sumatra, the energy supply is met from Dumai Refinery and Sei Pakning which has a production capacity of 170,000 barrels per day, or the equivalent of 16 percent of national needs.

To anticipate a surge in consumption during the New Year's holiday, the government has prepared a mechanism for adding quotas for gas stations in need.

"We are preparing storage cars to anticipate if there is a surge in demand," said Yuliot.

For the government, energy readiness is important to support community activities during the turn of the year. Yuliot highlighted that the island of Sumatra has a strategic role as a national energy barn.

"Sumatra is a priority area for the government in developing new and renewable energy. We hope that the energy supply here can continue to support sustainable economic growth," said Yuliot.
