7 Acehnese Fishermen Who Were Released By Myanmar Have Been Returned To Their Families

The Aceh Government through the Aceh Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service (DKP) ensured that the seven Acehnese fishermen who had just been released and repatriated from Myanmar were already in Aceh gathered with their respective families.

"The seven Acehnese fishermen who have just been released from Myanmar have returned to their respective hometowns," said the Head of the Aceh DKP, Aliman, in Banda Aceh, Monday, February 3.

For information, the seven Acehnese fishermen were previously arrested by the Myanmar authorities for entering their marine territory, and they have finally been detained in the local country since June 24, 2024.

As reported by ANTARA, the Acehnese fishermen were released along with thousands of other prisoners for receiving mass amnesty in commemoration of Myanmar's 77th anniversary of independence from Britain on January 4, 2025.

At that moment, the Head of Myanmar's Military Administration granted amnesty to 5,864 prisoners from Myanmar, as well as 180 foreigners who would be deported, and included the seven Acehnese fishermen.

Aliman said that after being released, they were finally sent back to their homeland, the group arrived at North Sumatra Kualanamu Airport on Saturday (1/2), accompanied by the Indonesian Embassy, Belawan PSDKP Station, Aceh DKP and East Aceh, as well as members of the DPD RI from Aceh Sudirman Haji Uma.

"After the handover procession, the fishermen were then facilitated to return from Medan to their respective hometowns using the Hiace Minibus Fleet," he said.

The seven Acehnese fishermen were each returned to Langsa four people, namely Abdullah (24), Mola Zikri (30), Nasruddin Hamzah (53), and Zubir (36).

Then, to Idi, East Aceh Regency, two people, namely Muhammad Nur (52) and Mustafa Kamal (19). Next, to North Aceh one person, Muzakir (44).
