SAR Team Still Looking For Metro TV Contributors Missing Due To Speedboat Exploding In Oba Ternate Waters

The joint SAR team from Basarnas and Polairud Polda North Maluku are still searching for contributors to Metro TV, Sahril Helmi, who went missing in the incident of the explosion of the RIB 04 speedboat belonging to the Ternate Basarnas on Sunday (2/2) night.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Maluku Police, Kombes Bambang Suharyono, said that currently the team from the North Maluku Police Dit Polairud together, members of the Oba Police, and the joint SAR team, were searching for victims Sahril Helmi in the waters of Oba and its surroundings.

This tragedy resulted in the death of three policemen in the duties of two members of the Ternate Basarnas and one member of the North Maluku Police Polairud, Bharatu Mardi Majid.

He stated that currently the search for the missing Metro TV contributors is still being carried out.

In addition, the police will investigate the cause of the ship's explosion.

The bodies of the three victims who died have been buried, while four seriously injured victims are still undergoing treatment at the hospital and three minor injuries have returned to their respective families.

Authorities appealed to the public to pray for the victims and safety of the SAR team who were still on duty in the field.

An atmosphere of grief enveloped the deceased's house in Moya Village, Central Ternate. The mother, Majida Aden, couldn't help but cry when she hugged her son's uniform, who died while in charge of rescuing two fishermen who had not been found.

North Maluku Deputy Police Chief KombesSTEphen MNapiun, who was present at the funeral home, expressed his deep condolences and tried to strengthen his family.

He explained that the incident occurred when the Basarnas and Polairud teams were evacuating fishermen who had an engine failure. However, when approaching the fishing boat, the hull used by the SAR team broke and caused several passengers to bounce into the sea.

"On the orders of the National Police Headquarters and the proposal of the Kapolda, the late Bharatu Mardi Majid was given an extraordinary promotion to Bharaka as a form of respect for his service," said StephenM Napion.
