Explosion In North Siantan, Police: One Injured And Perpetrator Of Neighbor Victims

The police have arrested a man suspected of being the perpetrator of the explosion in North Siantan, West Kalimantan, which left a resident injured. It is known that the perpetrator is the victim's neighbor and the motive is still under investigation.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Bayu Suseno, confirmed that the perpetrator of the explosion of a foreign object resembling a flashlight in North Siantan had been arrested and is now undergoing an investigation process.

"We have secured the perpetrator who is the victim's neighbor and is currently being investigated further," said Bayu, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, February 2.

The explosion occurred on Friday morning, January 24, 2025, at around 06.30 WIB. The incident began when the victim with the initials M found an object resembling a flashlight under the clothes while cleaning his shop.

Without suspicion, the victim took and took the object into the shop. However, shortly after that, the object suddenly exploded, causing the victim to suffer burns and had to be rushed to the hospital.

"The West Kalimantan Police team has succeeded in arresting the perpetrators, namely LLS alias ALS, who is the victim's neighbor. The perpetrator's house is not far from the scene," said Bayu.

During a search of the perpetrator's house and garden hut, the police found a number of evidences allegedly related to this case.

The confiscated evidence includes assembled electronic flashlights similar to exploding objects, batteries, black powder, carpentry equipment, paralon pipes, and personal records of the perpetrators.

"The personal note contains complaints of heartache against someone. The motive for the perpetrator is still under further investigation," said Bayu.

Until now, the police have not found any indications of the connection between the perpetrators and the terrorist network. However, an investigation will continue to be carried out to ascertain the background of the action.

This case had caused anxiety in the people of North Siantan. The West Kalimantan Police promised to conduct a thorough investigation to reveal the motives and backgrounds of the perpetrators.

"We will provide transparent information regarding the development of this case," said Bayu.

Until this news was written, the victim was still undergoing treatment at the hospital. The West Kalimantan Police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report to the authorities if they found any suspicious objects.

"We will continue to oversee the legal process against the perpetrators to ensure justice for the victims and the community," he concluded.
