Investigate Tangerang Sea Pagar, KKP Checks Kohod Village Head And 13 Fishermen

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has examined the village head of Kohod along with 13 fishermen regarding the existence of a 30.16 kilometer sea fence in the waters of Tangerang Regency, Banten.

Special Staff to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Doni Ismanto Darwin, said that the Special Police for Management of the Coastal and Small Islands (PWP3K Police) of the KKP continued to develop investigations related to the case of the sea fence.

"On January 30, 2025, the KKP has summoned the village head of Kohod and 13 fishermen for questioning," said Doni, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 31.

Doni explained that this examination is part of the process of enforcing administrative sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations in the marine and fisheries sector, namely PP 21/2021, PP 85/2021, and PermenKP No. 31/2021.

Furthermore, he said that the inspection was carried out at the Head Office of the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP. This examination is a continuation of the previous examination of two representatives of the Pantura People's Network (JRP) on January 21, 2025.

Thus, until now the KKP has examined a total of 16 people related to the construction of a sea fence that has not yet obtained an approval permit for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (PKKPRL).

Even so, Doni did not reveal the identity of the individual who had been examined or the examination material in detail, considering that the investigation stage was still ongoing.

"Previously, two people had been examined. Now it has been added to the village head and 13 fishermen," he said.

Doni added that the investigation would continue to develop information from the results of the examination of the Kohod Village Head and the fishermen. He emphasized that the KKP ensured that the investigation was carried out in a professional, transparent manner, and in accordance with the legal corridor.

"KKP confirms that all of this process is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations to ensure order and obedience in the management of a just marine space," said Doni.

Previously, the Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titiek Soeharto, asked the KKP to dare to reveal the main actor behind the construction of the sea fence in Tangerang without fear of the oligarchy.

"All ministries do not need to be afraid to fight the oligarchy because the DPR is the representative of the people, while the ministry is also carrying out its duties for the benefit of the people," said Titiek after a working meeting with the KKP at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan yesterday.

Titiek emphasized that the perpetrators of installing a sea fence made of bamboo in the waters of Tangerang Regency must be immediately revealed without any political pressure.

Meanwhile, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono is targeting the resolution of the sea fence problem to be resolved as soon as possible.

"If possible, in the next week this problem can be resolved. We will resolve it as soon as possible," Trenggono said in a press conference after a Working Meeting with Commission IV of the DPR RI at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, last Thursday.

Trenggono emphasized that the resolution of this problem would be carried out in accordance with the authority of the KKP, namely through administrative channels.
