DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Deploys All Resources To Overcome Floods Today

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has mobilized all resources to overcome flooding and inundation due to rain that has flushed Jakarta from Tuesday, January 28 afternoon to night.

"We are trying our best to overcome or minimize the impact of this inundation. Even in the early hours of the morning we are still trying with related regional apparatus with regional apparatus," said Acting Governor (Pj.) DKI Jakarta Governor Teguh Setyabudi in his official statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 29.

He said the DKI Provincial Government would again make modifications to the weather if extreme weather was still happening.

"We will continue to maximize (an effort). If it is still extreme weather, we will take other steps, such as weather modifications," he said.

Teguh said that currently inundation in several locations has begun to recede. He then advised all ranks to always be vigilant.

Meanwhile, for the community, Teguh reminded them to be aware of the potential for extreme weather that may still occur.

Previously, heavy to moderate rains that flushed Jakarta from day to night, Tuesday, January 28, resulted in in inundation and flooding on a number of roads.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded floods hitting 53 RT and 23 roads in the early hours of Wednesday. The average water level starts from 30 centimeters (cm) to 100 cm.

Then, to see the progress of the handling in the field, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi visited several points, Wednesday (29/1) in the morning, including Tanjung Duren, close to the pump house.

"Earlier I had traveled to several areas, and indeed in the evening until last night there was quite extreme weather, especially in West Jakarta, North Jakarta, parts of Central Jakarta, parts of East Jakarta," said Teguh.
