Even Though Paulus Tannos Was Caught, The KPK Is Considered Not Successful Because Harun Masiku Is Still At Large

JAKARTA - The Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), Boyamin Saiman, considers the image of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not improved even though one of its fugitives, Paulus Tannos, was arrested in Singapore.

This institution is considered only successful if it succeeds in arresting the suspect in the alleged bribery of the interim replacement (PAW) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Harun Masiku.

"KPK deserves a good image if it is able to arrest HM and fails otherwise," Boyamin told reporters quoted Monday, January 27, 2025.

Harun, continued Boyamin, should have been easier to catch because he was in the country. After all, the arrest of Paulus Tannos was actually a police work with the Singaporean authorities.

Thus, there is nothing special about the arrest of the suspect in the corruption case of the electronic identity card procurement project (e-KTP).

"KPK actually only accepts results," said Boyamin.

By arresting Harun, there are actually several things that can be proven by the KPK. Among other things, ensuring that the completion of the PAW bribery case for members of the DPR RI has nothing to do with political affairs.

In addition, the arrest of Harun will also shed light on the actions of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, who is now a suspect after the PAW bribery case for members of the DPR RI was developed.

"Therefore, the KPK must be able to arrest HM at this time, as soon as possible. If you can't afford it, yes, the public will still be divided that the handling of the HK case is between politics or pure law," said Boyamin.

As previously reported, Paulus Tannos, who is the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, was finally arrested by Singaporean authorities after being on the wanted list since 2021.

He was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2019.

At that time, he was named by the KPK as a suspect along with three other people, namely Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the former President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI), Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives 2014-2019 Miryam S Haryani, and former Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of e-KTP Husni Fahmi.

Meanwhile, Harun Masiku is still at large and continues to be sought after escaping a hand arrest operation (OTT) in 2020. The wanted list (DPO) has been updated by including a number of characteristics, such as having a height of 172 cm with black hair and mature sawo skin.

Harun is also written as having special characteristics for glasses, thinness, having a loud voice. In addition, he also speaks in a Toraja or Bugis accent.
