Floods Soak 400 Houses On The Coast Of Bengkayang, West Kalimantan, Head Of BPBD Coordination Village For Logistics Assistance

JAKARTA - Hundreds of houses of residents of Sungai Duri Village, Sungai Raya District, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) were flooded, Thursday, January 23.

The Head of Sungai Duri Village, Heryato, stated that two hamlets in Sungai Duri village were affected by the flood, namely in Pelangi Segedong Hamlet and Melayar hamlet. The average water level reaches 1.5 centimeters.

"We from the village have checked directly in the field together with the police, Babinsa and also the medical team in hamlets affected by the flood. For the time being, more than 400 of our residents were affected by the flood," he said in West Kalimantan, confiscated by Antara.

For this reason, his party also coordinates with the sub-district and also the Bengkayang Regency BPBD for logistical assistance.

The village head said that later his party would set up a post to accommodate residents who needed a place to live. The post, he said, would be established at the village office considering that there was a large location.

"We will prepare logistics and medicines in coordination with other relevant agencies," he said.

He hopes that even if there are residents who evacuate, it is hoped that the private sector will also take part in helping the community.

"We pray that the flood will recede soon, and people can carry out their activities as usual and live the day calmly," he said.

He also appealed to the people in Sungai Duri village to remain careful. Take care of small children who have not been able to swim and also health.

"I beg RT, hamlet to work together to protect residents and the property of the region," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bengkayang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Dwi Berta, stated that logistical assistance for flood-affected residents from the West Kalimantan Provincial BPBD had been distributed to Bengkayang.

"Tomorrow, Friday (January 24) will arrive in Bengkayang. We are still coordinating with the Social Service and the Bengkayang Regency Food Service," he said.

In addition, reports of floods and landslides also occurred in Ledo District and Sungai Betung District, precisely on Vandering Street.

Meanwhile, in the border area of Jagoi Babang and Sewide sub-districts, floods have also occurred, and some have receded.

He also appealed to the people of Bengkayang to remain vigilant in the face of extreme weather. Residents are also asked to store important documents in a safe place, avoid leaving the house during heavy rains and strong winds.

"Do evacuations if it threatens safety," he said.

He hopes that people will remain vigilant, especially people who live along rivers and slopes. And if it rains high, he asks for immediate evacuation. Dwi also hopes that there will be no more rain and aftershocks.
